A Devil's Din wants to play Toronto

Hey everybody, my name's Dave, I'm from a Mtl band called A Devil's Din. We just released our first album and yeah, we're itching to head up the 401 and play some shows in Toronto. So in my quest to find like-minded bands to exchange gigs with, I discovered this place and yeah pretty fucking cool. We're a completely self-funded, diy band, started my own record company, keeping it grass roots. So we're scoping things out. The album is getting some great feedback (as well as having some lol), we're about to do the TO media blitz, etc, but I'm more interested in finding bands that we can work with and allow us to open up for, get a bit of a foothold in your scene with total reciprocity, complete with all the amenities that Montreal can offer.

So anyway, we're making the transition to a wordpress site, so currently adevilsdin.com looks stupid, but you can check shit out or just dl the thing for free (in .wav form) from soundcloud.com/adevilsdin/sets (cooler to listen to the whole thing in order--the homepage has 'em all mixed up)

Maybe we're a little lighter on metal scale, but there's some seriously intense moments and cool songs and shit and plenty fuzzed out ear candy.

First thing I thought about when I heard the band name was You Handsome Devil. Dunno if you guys have anything else in common, will hafta check out yer tunes.

Their stuff sounds great, but I guess we're a bit more all over the map. We're kind of a strange hybrid, definitely heavy live with occasional prog moments, but we get pretty spaced out as well. But we are handsome, though.

Hmm, not really what I was expecting. A little like Palace of the End, but not too much.

Yeah, we're maybe not totally suited for this place, I dunno. We're considered a "stoner rock" band but we have many other influences including the early Floyd, late 70's British underground music, and even The Beatles dammit. We're kinda too heavy for the indie kids and not heavy enough for the metal scene, but we bring out the bigass guns when needed (which is a lot of the time). We just like to rock in our own weird little way. But we can get heavy...Dunno if you heard all the way through (it's a long album), but if you haven't, you may have missed this one:

Well, you're not what I'd call a "stoner rock" band, but I find that term is somewhat nebulous (pun not intended) to begin with...

Toronto is a tough market to break into, for sure. You best bet would be to try to get a spot on one of the city's many music festivals (NXNE, CMW, etc)--but even that won't guarantee anyone will come out to see ya play. You can ask your fellow Montrealers in Anonymus what Toronto crowds are like...
